Gahl Berkooz,
MSW Candidate

Gahl Berkooz is an empathic and analytically minded clinical social work intern currently completing a Master of Social Work at Widener University and an academic candidate at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. He provides a safe and non-judgmental environment where patients can to explore and understand their emotional experiences, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, paranoid ideation, or compulsive behaviors. Gahl prioritizes a strength-based approach, which lends itself to a compassionate therapy space for patients to navigate their complex emotional patterns, even parts of the self that are more difficult to address.

Gahl brings a unique background to his clinical work, with experience in the business world, and academia enhancing his ability to integrate evidence-based psychodynamic practice with deeply human-centered care. His therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy and scientific understanding. He is available to collaboratively work with adults toward relief, emotional acceptance, and renewed joy in life.

He offers therapy both in-person in Ann Arbor and Farmington Hills and virtually. Gahl’s unique path into psychoanalysis, along with his ongoing research interests in narcissism and the role of play in child and adult therapy, allows him to provide thoughtful and nuanced care to his clients.
